Rampage On The Beauty of Contrast & Life:
My dear friend Sandra Zeiset Richardson, whose Soul chose to make her transition last month, taught me about the art term “negative space.” She explained the importance of utilizing it to define a space, which creates interest and contrast. I was always mesmerized by how the holes, edges, backdrops, and cracks that she would blend into her artwork would add so much richness to the development and understanding of the piece. Over the years it has assisted me, with the help of Abraham’s description of the value of contrast, to realize that the experiences in our lives that feel like holes and cracks are where depth, complexity, and magic live. Sandra’s Spirit chose a complex life filled with many intense challenges, but what it brought forward was a 3D effect, just like one of her sculptures. Each moment brought a fullness, an intricacy, and ended up developing into an elaborate and epic tale of true love for life. A desire for life’s simple moments like singing songs, taking pictures of rocks in cracks, reading poetry, drinking a hot cup of tea, or wearing a woven wrap.
As I feel Sandra’s energy shining on me, I can feel this overwhelming sensation of leaping from my fly bar to the catcher, as if I was doing a trapeze act. Reaching out with both arms, bending at the knees, and leaping toward the stars, forgetting about all the possible issues that might happen along the way, all the possible experiences, but instead wanting to dance all night and live in the moment. Knowing that whatever life experience we have will be partnered with that negative space, the trip between the fly bar and Source’s hands, will be one heck of a ride, filled with color, paint brushes, friendships, splatter, creation, conversations, loving, falling, laughter, singing, playing, dancing, passion, showers, climbing, intensity, tears, music, quiet, kisses, hustle & bustle, waves, molding clay, plants, rocks, light, dark, poetry, adventures, road trips, rainbows, and slumber. However, from that negative space the part that is illuminated is the love, the vibrancy of living life. From that leap there is the joyous span of this physical lifetime and then once again I reach for the hands of the catcher. Flying high and knowing that I can never get it wrong, a side smile forms on my face. I feel myself grab a solid hold of the hands of Source, and a surge of confidence pulses through me from head to toe. As tears come to my eyes I know that this is life. Life is reaching for that next exhilarating moment where I can go further than I have ever gone before. As I release again and fly through the air I feel Source running through my veins, hot, thick, and full of knowing that there is no death, but life and catcher and fly bar and life and catcher and fly bar and life and life and life. It is all exhilarating life!
I feel an energy inside me that tells me she wouldn’t want to miss a minute of life. Telling me, “I would do it all again. Because what is carved into my Soul is the multitude of memories that are stars that fill the sky. Lighting your way at night. Look up and see the smile of our love shining down on you, warming you and comforting you as you reach for those strong hands. I will be coursing through your veins as you walk, run, or dance to the nearest life giving adventure. I am still here. I am still whispering in your ear. I am a comma, not a full stop. I am redefining myself, transforming into something new, something beautiful, something magical that is beyond words. Know that when this life’s sculpture is finished that I will catch you with my strong hands.”
Thank you Sandra for playing with me on this topic and thank you for the beautiful imagery. I love that we can still ponder these topics together my dear friend! Cheers to our next chapters!
